As Fall is soon approaching us, it is appropriate to talk about jacket trends. I've been following men's Fall/Winter 2015 trends and various men's fashion shows from around the world and there are a few jacket trends that I keep seeing over and over again. When it comes to men's fashion, I'm not a big fan of ostentatious styles. I think for men, simplicity with an edge is key; a style that will be noticed and admired for the right reasons. I've picked 3 of my favorite jacket trends that I think can turn any regular guy next door to a total hunk.

The Edgy Leather Jacket

What I really find interesting about this image, which is a street style shot taken during Milan Men's Fall/Winter 2015 Fashion Week by Adam Katz Sindig is that it perfectly portrays a story of the jacket and the man wearing it. Not only does this jacket by COMME des GARÇON has the rugged, bad ass look, the wording matches the whole look as well. In case you didn't know, "come des garçon" means " like boys." So the play with words on this jacket is pretty on point: "Live Free Die Strong Like Boys." I think it's a pretty strong fashion statement. The image shows a guy who has turned his back on the past and is walking forward. There's something very appealing about confident, independent, strong headed men who aren't afraid of taking risks; Those who are open to trying things out with no shame or remorse, like let's say, wearing this funky jacket 😉

The Casual Black Bomber Jacket - Get it for $80 from Private Cartel

A causal bomber jacket, also known as pilot jacket is a must have timeless piece. It can be worn over almost any and every street wear outfit, or over a button up and tie for a more trendy professional look which I like to call "trendessional," not only to keep you warm but to add some edge to your outfit.

The Modern Military Inspired Jacket

Military green is a staple color of this year's Fall/Winter men's fashion and a militarty/army green color jacket is a must have for every fashion forward man. A trend forecast for 2015/2016 that I keep seeing over and over again is a collection of modern military inspired apparel and accessories. After going through various modern inspired military jackets for men, this one in particular stood out to me. I like its sharp fit and the 90 degree pocket rotation, which gives it the modern twist. The entire outfit look is extremely chic and the perfect business casual Fall look for those who live in colder parts of the globe. For those of you who live in warmer parts like Southern California, you can simply throw this type of jacket on a t-shirt or a button up and lose the beanie.

Going back to my belief that men's fashion should embody simplicity with an edge, and since we are seeing a big come back of the 70's style this Fall and Winter, I find it highly appropriate to leave you gentlemen with this short styling advice by Don Draper: "Make it simple but significant."
